Baseball Game Preview: Weston Wolves vs. Sterlington Panthers

Weston hasn't had much luck against Sterlington recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wolves will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Weston comes in on four and Sterlington on five.

Sterlington's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Weston hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Wolves' pitcher stepped up to hand Choudrant a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Liam Weaver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dawson Griffin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Beaux Oliver was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Sterlington took on Neville on Tuesday. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Tigers 2-1.

Sterlington's victory bumped their record up to 23-5. As for Weston, their win bumped their record up to 17-9.

Weston might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Sterlington in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
