Baseball Recap: Harmon Takes a Loss

Harmon easily dispatched Maranatha Christian Academy on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Hawks fell just short of the Sumner Academy Sabres by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Eliseo Hernandez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Hernandez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Harmon is 2-1 when Hernandez posts three or more hits, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Adrian Fernandez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Fernandez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Munoz, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Harmon now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Sumner Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Coming up, Harmon will take on Topeka at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sumner Academy, they have already played their next match, a 12-0 defeat against Bonner Springs on the 9th.
