Recap: South Bend Clay Colonials vs. Trinity Titans
The South Bend Clay Colonials can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Trinity 54-22 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-7.
South Bend Clay was led to victory by Delilah Castaneda and Tyrece Cunningham. Castaneda scored 16 points along with 6 steals, while Cunningham dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Castaneda has scored at least 25% of South Bend Clay's points. Another player making a difference was Maliya Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Several Titans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Natalie Gabrielse, who scored 5 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Tormey, who scored 5 points along with 9 rebounds.
South Bend Clay has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 1-9 record. As for Trinity, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Bend Clay will take on LaVille at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Trinity will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Heritage Christian at 1:00 p.m. on December 2nd.
