Football Game Preview: Cloudland Highlanders vs. Coalfield Yellow Jackets + Official Tickets

The Cloudland Highlanders will take on the Coalfield Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cloudland has given up an average of 32.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cloudland is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Hampton just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by the Bulldogs and fell 54-22.

Meanwhile, Coalfield came tearing into Friday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47.1 points), and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Bobcats to the tune of 48-7. Given the Yellow Jackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Bobcats are ranked 239th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Hadyn Headrick and Jaiden Bunch. Headrick rushed for 148 yards and three scores on only nine carries while Bunch rushed for 124 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Headrick a new career-high.

Coalfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 316 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Coalfield's record is now 8-2. As for Cloudland, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Cloudland won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in November of 2021, slipping by Coalfield 22-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
