Volleyball Recap: Elsinore Find Success

While Elsinore's win against Chino Hills wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Elsinore Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chino Hills Huskies on Thursday, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 13, 2024.

Elsinore wouldn't go down easily and took Chino Hills into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 29-27, 25-21, 26-28, 19-17.

Tucker Ellis paced Elsinore's offense, picking up 23 kills. Ellis got some help from Isaiah Word and his 40 assists. Sharrod Almoite controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Chino Hills' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Spicer, who had 28 kills, nine digs, three aces, and two blocks. Spicer is crushing it when it comes to kills: he's had at least six every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Sabbara, who had eight digs, three aces, and one block.

Elsinore has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. The loss snapped Chino Hills' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-5 record.

Looking ahead, Elsinore will face off against Temescal Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The contest will give Temescal Canyon their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Chino Hills, they will square off against Rancho Cucamonga at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho Cucamonga will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Chino Hills surely won't give up without a fight.
