Football Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Del City

Del City extended their winning streak to seven on Friday, bumping them up to 7-1. They blew past the Tahlequah Tigers, posting a 42-14 win. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Del City found their leader in sophomore Syncere Overton, who rushed for 109 yards, and also threw for 126 yards and one touchdown.

Del City's run defense was locked in: Tahlequah could only muster 0.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Ricklan Holmes Ii for the heroic effort on defense: he. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Del City's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Holmes Ii was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

As for Tahlequah, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Del City is ranked 19th).

Although Tahlequah took the loss, they still got scores from Kael Dobbins and Ashton Morgan.
