Basketball Recap: Simon Kenton Skates Past Pendleton County with Ease

Simon Kenton waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They really took it to the Pendleton County Wildcats for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-35 win. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Wildcats are ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Simon Kenton had a senior duo take command as Jay Bilton went 8 of 11 en route to 18 points and three steals and Jordan Bach went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc to rack up 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bach has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braydon Polly, who posted five points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Simon Kenton's record is now 18-6. As for Pendleton County, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Simon Kenton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Boone County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Simon Kenton is facing Boone County at the right time seeing as Boone County is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Pendleton County, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Bellevue at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
