Grand Valley picks up 16th straight win at home

Recap: Grand Valley Cardinals vs. Olathe Pirates

The Grand Valley Cardinals put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 54-45 victory over Olathe. Given Grand Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Olathe is ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grand Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaycee Pittman, who scored 19 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Pittman has scored at least a third of Grand Valley's points. Chloe Williams was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Olathe lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kiandra Liles, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Liles is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyra Gray, who scored 19 points.

Grand Valley's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Olathe, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Grand Valley will play host again and welcome Cedaredge, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Grand Valley is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season. As for Olathe, they will head out on the road to challenge Roaring Fork at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Roaring Fork has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 251 points over their last four games.
