Basketball Recap: Mount De Sales Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Shelby Lewis and Ella Powers

Mount de Sales Academy saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell 48-38 to the Seneca Valley Screamin' Eagles. The match marked the Sailors 's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Mount de Sales Academy had strong showings from Ella Powers, who went 8 of 10 en route to 18 points, and Shelby Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Lewis has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katie Carroll, who posted three points and 14 rebounds.

Seneca Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden Addison, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 19 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brielle Watson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Mount de Sales Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Seneca Valley, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Mount de Sales Academy will take on Centennial at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Seneca Valley, they and Sherwood will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Seneca Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season.
