Basketball Recap: Elkhart Lions vs. Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies
The Elkhart Lions came into Tuesday's matchup having lost 20 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Plymouth by a score of 66-58 on Tuesday. That eight point margin sets a new team best for Elkhart this season.
Javeis Hines went supernova for Elkhart, scoring 22 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tumarye Morris, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Several Pilgrims/Rockies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Coby Walters, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walters has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kadyn Ellery, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Elkhart's win ended a 13-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-14. As for Plymouth, they dropped their record down to 6-9 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkhart will take on the Jimmies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Plymouth, they will be playing at home against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Pilgrims/Rockies in Indiana (the Raiders are ranked 57th, while the Pilgrims/Rockies are ranked 249th).
