Baseball Recap: Westhill Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

There's no place like home for Westhill, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Central Square Redhawks by a score of 10-6 on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Westhill got a massive performance out of Eric Holstein, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The Warriors are undefeated when Holstein posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tommy Hunt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Westhill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Westhill's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Central Square, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westhill will head out to take on Christian Brothers Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central Square, they will square off against East Syracuse-Minoa at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
