Soccer Game Preview: Jefferson vs. Plant

Jefferson is 0-5 against Plant since January of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Jefferson Dragons will take on the Plant Panthers in a holiday battle at at 8:00 p.m.

Jefferson is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Freedom, falling 6-3.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Plant made sure to put some goals up on the board against Blake on Wednesday. They never let the Yellow Jackets onto the board and left with an 8-0 victory. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 404th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Plant's offense was hitting Blake from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Sarah Hay led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Plant, they now have a winning record of 5-4-1.

Jefferson might still be hurting after the 14-0 defeat they got from Plant in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Jefferson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
