Football Recap: New Bern Bears vs. Cleveland Rams
New Bern faced Cleveland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bears had to suffer through a 46-6 loss at the hands of the Rams. Having soared to a lofty 48 points in the game before, the Bears couldn't push the score so high this time.
Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kaishawn Taylor, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Owen Hulbert produced another solid performance throwing for 150 yards and four TDs for Cleveland. The Rams' leading receiver Jaden Tibbs was Hulbert's top target yet again, picking up 49 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Having lost for the first time this season, New Bern fell to 3-1. As for Cleveland, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Bern will square off against Hough at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies' defense has only allowed 11.2 points per game this season, so the Bears' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Cleveland, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on South Garner at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
