Football Game Preview: Jefferson J-Hawks vs. Guilford Vikings

The Jefferson J-Hawks will square off against the Guilford Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson's offense hasn't had much luck over their past five games, but Thursday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jefferson lost 36-12 to Belvidere North on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the J-Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Blue Thunder are ranked 99th).

Meanwhile, Guilford came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Huskies 31-28. Guilford's win was all the more impressive since the Huskies were averaging only ten points allowed on the season.

Jefferson now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Things could have been worse for Jefferson, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-14 loss to Guilford when the teams last played back in October of 2024.
