Basketball Game Preview: Freeman Mavericks vs. Hermitage Panthers

After both having extra time off, the Freeman Mavericks and the Hermitage Panthers will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freeman knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Hermitage likes a good challenge.

If Hermitage heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Freeman took over last week. Freeman walked away with a 73-62 win over Collegiate two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Hermitage suffered their biggest loss since January 23, 2024 two weeks ago. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Varina an easy 72-52 victory. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now lost five in a row.

Freeman's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Hermitage, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Freeman came up short against Hermitage in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 65-56. Can Freeman avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
