Football Game Preview: Nazarene Christian Academy Lions vs. Abilene Christian Panthers

The Nazarene Christian Academy Lions will head out to take on the Abilene Christian Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Nazarene Christian Academy took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They managed a 50-44 win over Covenant Classical.

Nazarene Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Cristian Adams, who rushed for 162 yards and one score while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 197 yards and four TDs on only 13 passes. The Lions are 3-1 when Adams posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise.

Nazarene Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Abilene Christian had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They blew past the Lions 54-6. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Lions are ranked 205th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nazarene Christian Academy's record now sits at 3-4. As for Abilene Christian, their record is now 6-1.

Nazarene Christian Academy strolled past Abilene Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 55-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
