Baseball Recap: Coronado Comes Up Short

Coronado extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-18. They came up short against the Desert Sunrise -, falling 22-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the - this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 on Monday.

As for Desert Sunrise, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Desert Sunrise's part, Isaac Sanchez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Sanchez has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Aaron Sanchez was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Jace Collins was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Coronado didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-2 defeat against Shadow Mountain on the 23rd. Desert Sunrise does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
