Softball Game Preview: Tatum Eagles vs. Mineola Yellowjackets

For the second straight game, Tatum will face off against Mineola. The Eagles will welcome the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tatum has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with five straight defeats, while Mineola will come in with three straight wins.

Tatum heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They came up short against Mineola, falling 11-1.

For Mineola's part, Jadelyn Marshall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Marshall has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Carol Castleberry was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Mahayla McMahon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Tatum's loss dropped their record down to 5-20-1. As for Mineola, their victory bumped their record up to 21-6-2.
