Woodinville has gone 8-2 against Newport - Bellevue recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 6:30 p.m. Woodinville will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Woodinville proved they can win big on Friday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Inglemoor 4-3.
Hayden Kneeland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jane Ford was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Emma Bero, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
North Creek hit Newport - Bellevue with a four-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights came up short against the Jaguars, falling 11-4. The Knights have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Lauren Blank made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Emma Chen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Woodinville's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Newport - Bellevue, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Newport - Bellevue's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Woodinville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Newport - Bellevue, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Woodinville keep running through batters, or will the Knights buck the trend?
