Volleyball Recap: Clyde Fliers vs. St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks
After flying high against Sandusky on Thursday, Clyde came back down to earth. The Fliers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks on Monday. The Fliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crimson Streaks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2016.
Clyde was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made St. Joseph Central Catholic work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 26-24, 21-25, 25-19.
St. Joseph Central Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Klos, who had 12 digs and four aces. That's the most digs Klos has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Stout, who had 17 digs.
Clyde dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Looking ahead, Clyde will take on Columbian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against St. Mary Central Catholic on the 16th.
