Baseball Game Preview: Willowbrook Warriors vs. Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack

The Willowbrook Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Willowbrook will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Willowbrook came out on top against Proviso East on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run seventh inning. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Pirates. Considering the Warriors have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bobby Biggs tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four games.

On the hitting side, Max Wilkison was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Sam Marrese was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI.

Brother Rice hit Saint Ignatius College Prep with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolfpack lost 10-0 to the Crusaders. The Wolfpack have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Willowbrook pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Willowbrook has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Saint Ignatius College Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts.
