Softball Game Preview: Greenville Hornets vs. Canton Tigers

The Greenville Hornets will square off against the Canton Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Greenville fell victim to Cleveland Central and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 17-0 to the Wolves. That makes it the first time this season the Hornets have let down their home crowd.

Meanwhile, Canton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Yazoo City, falling 24-2. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Greenville's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Canton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Greenville took their win against Canton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
