Volleyball Recap: Sophie Ryken and Brielle Amarel Secure Win for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy barely beat Red Rock the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans put the hurt on the Scorpions with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Scorpions recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Scottsdale Preparatory Academy was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-5, 25-9, 25-13.

Leading Scottsdale Preparatory Academy to victory were Brielle Amarel and Sophie Ryken. Amarel had five digs and three aces, while Ryken hit 87.5% for seven kills and six aces and one block. Ryken has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 17 times she's played. Lauren Wong also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Scottsdale Preparatory Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 21 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.
