Basketball Game Preview: California Military Institute Rough Riders vs. San Jacinto Leadership Academy Lions

The California Military Institute Rough Riders will head out on the road to square off against the San Jacinto Leadership Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Wednesday, California Military Institute was beaten by Desert Christian Academy 65-31. The Rough Riders haven't had much luck with the Conquerors recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, San Jacinto Leadership Academy ended up a good deal behind Santa Rosa Academy on Wednesday and lost 70-55.

California Military Institute will have to contain Jake Gagnepain as he made an impact in San Jacinto Leadership Academy's last game. He posted 28 points and four steals. The game was Gagnepain's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ezra Olguin, who earned ten points and five rebounds.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for California Military Institute, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

California Military Institute was able to grind out a solid victory over San Jacinto Leadership Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 41-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for California Military Institute since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
