Softball Recap: Zeigler-Royalton's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Zeigler-Royalton had lost six games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 11-16 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Vienna Eagles by a score of 5-2. This was a revenge game for the Tornadoes: when they faced off against the Eagles two weeks ago, they had to take a 5-4 loss.

Addison Furlow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mayti House was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Furlow-Hampton, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Vienna, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

On Vienna's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayva Rush, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Zeigler-Royalton will head out to take on DuQuoin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Vienna, they will square off against Massac County at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
