Basketball Recap: Champaign Central Maroons vs. Normal West Wildcats
A well-balanced attack led Champaign Central over Normal West in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Champaign Central Maroons blew the Normal West Wildcats out of the water with a 68-35 final score. The Maroons pushed the score to 50-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats had little chance of recovering from.

Champaign Central had a senior duo take command as Luke Swanson posted nine points along with five assists and three steals and David Riley went 5 of 6 on his way to 14 points. That's the most points Riley has posted since back in November of 2023. Cole Vuglar was another key player, putting up eight points.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maliq Givens-Smith, who scored 13 points. Isaiah Willis also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.
Champaign Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Normal West, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Champaign Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 75-62 win against Centennial on the 17th. Normal West has also already played their next match, a 60-45 victory against Lakes on the 18th.
