Volleyball Recap: Purdue Polytechnic Falls Despite Big Games from Alyssa Hickman and Madalyn Osborne

Purdue Polytechnic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils. If the Techies were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Blue Devils when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:three sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The final score came out to 26-24, 26-16, 12-25, 24-26, 15-12.

Purdue Polytechnic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Madalyn Osborne, who had 16 digs and five assists, and Alyssa Hickman, who had five digs and three aces. Osborne is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Myracle Williams-Hatchett also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Purdue Polytechnic's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Purdue Polytechnic has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Providence Cristo Rey on the 6th. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Purdue Poly Englewood on the 1st.
