Cane Bay took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against the Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes as they made off with a 67-43 win. The contest was close at halftime, but the Cobras turned on the heat in the second half with 44 points.

Jahleel Sanders was a one-man wrecking crew as he shot 58% from the field on his way to 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamel McKinley, who went 6-for-12 en route to 16 points and seven boards.

Cane Bay was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ashley Ridge only racked up nine.

When it comes to explaining why Ashley Ridge lost, don't look at Clayton Everett Jr. Despite the final result, he shot 43% from the field to rack up 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Shayne Pinckney, who posted six points and three steals.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Cane Bay is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Timberland at 8:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Ashley Ridge, they will venture away from home to square off against Beaufort at 8:30 p.m. on Monday.
