Plainfield Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Coal City Coalers, falling 18-12. Even though they lost, the Wildcats' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.7 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Ava Zitello made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 2-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Ava Sommerfeld was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
Zitello wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Plainfield Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Plainfield Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Coal City, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
