Preview: Walnut Hills Eagles vs. Turpin Spartans
The Walnut Hills Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Turpin Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Turpin took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Walnut Hills, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Walnut Hills beat Milford 39-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Walnut Hills.
Turpin suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 72-38 loss at the hands of Kings. While losing is never fun, Turpin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Kings is ranked 49th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elizabeth Wullenweber, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Schiano, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Walnut Hills' win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Turpin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
Walnut Hills was able to grind out a solid victory over Turpin when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 50-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Walnut Hills since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
