Baseball Recap: Saranac Starts Season with Victory at Home

Saranac gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They skirted past the Plattsburgh Hornets 7-6. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 2-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Robbie Squier was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zack Lucia, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Saranac beat Plattsburgh by a score of 7-5 on Saturday.
