Basketball Game Preview: Pawhuska Huskies vs. Nowata Ironmen

Pawhuska is 2-7 against Nowata since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Pawhuska Huskies will challenge the Nowata Ironmen at 2:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pawhuska is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They skirted past Quapaw 51-48.

Meanwhile, Nowata had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four last Friday. They walked away with a 49-37 win over the Trojans. Given the Ironmen's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Trojans are ranked 401st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nowata pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points over those games. As for Pawhuska, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-14 record this season.

Pawhuska came out on top in a nail-biter against Nowata in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, sneaking past 58-55. Does Pawhuska have another victory up their sleeve, or will Nowata turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
