Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Wallington

Wallington extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping them up to 12-6-1. They blew past the Elmwood Park Crusaders 13-3. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Jordan Kassteen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Kassteen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Alex Jimenez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was his first of the season. Alex Syby was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Wallington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elmwood Park only posted a batting average of .190.

As for Elmwood Park, they now have a losing record of 6-7. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with Wallington: they've now lost five in a row.

On Elmwood Park's side, Freylin Ceballo made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Ceballo has become a key player for the Crusaders: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise.

Coming up, Wallington will be playing in front of their home fans against Secaucus at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Elmwood Park, they will head out on the road to square off against Pompton Lakes at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
