Soccer Game Preview: Kosciusko vs. Starkville

Kosciusko is 0-6-1 against Starkville since November of 2014 but things could change on Tuesday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:15 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Kosciusko is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Lafayette on Saturday. Kosciusko fell 3-1 to Lafayette.

Meanwhile, Starkville kept a clean sheet against Germantown on Friday. They skirted past the Mavericks 1-0. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi soccer rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Mavericks are ranked 44th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kosciusko's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-9. As for Starkville, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.

Kosciusko might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Starkville in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Can Kosciusko avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
