Basketball Recap: North Brunswick Takes a Loss

North Brunswick extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-2. They took a 53-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Bladen Eagles. The Scorpions lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 67-28 score last time.

As for East Bladen, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 29.2 points thus far.

East Bladen was led to victory by Ariel Cromartie and Sana'A Singletary. Cromartie shot 60% from the field to rack up 28 points and seven steals, while Singletary dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Cromartie is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 60% in the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Niyah Wooten was another key player, putting up three points along with nine rebounds and five steals.

Looking ahead, North Brunswick won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Bladen, they will square off against Pender at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
