Preview: Columbia City Eagles vs. New Haven Bulldogs

Columbia City has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the New Haven Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Columbia City will be strutting in after a win while New Haven will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Columbia City beat DeKalb 35-31. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Columbia City has scored all year.

Meanwhile, New Haven's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to Norwell. While losing is never fun, New Haven can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while Norwell is ranked 135th).

The losing side was boosted by James Hardy, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Cottrell, who scored ten points.

Columbia City pushed their record up to 11-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for New Haven, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Columbia City was able to grind out a solid victory over New Haven in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 64-53. Does Columbia City have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Haven turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
