Baseball Game Preview: Sierra Grande Panthers vs. Nucla Mustangs

The Sierra Grande Panthers will face off against the Nucla Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Sierra Grande and three for Nucla.

Sierra Grande is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 13-3 to Sargent.

Sierra Grande saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luis Roybal, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Nucla and Ignacio, and Ignacio kept the tradition alive. The Mustangs came up short against the Bobcats on Tuesday, falling 14-2.

Sierra Grande's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Nucla, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sierra Grande has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Nucla struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
