Volleyball Recap: East Haven Yellowjackets vs. Branford Hornets
East Haven faced off against Branford in a bug-themed battle on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets fell 3-1 to the Hornets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellowjackets of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 17-25, 25-15, 25-19.
Kelsey Hinckley paced East Haven's offense, picking up six kills. Hinckley got some help from Eve Backhaus and her 14 assists. Backhaus was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.
Julianne Henkel continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Branford, getting 15 digs, 14 kills, and 11 aces. Henkel is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last 20 games she's played dating back to last season. Lily McNeil was another key player, getting 24 digs and ten kills.
