Softball Game Preview: Nanakuli Golden Hawks vs. Wai'anae Seariders

The Nanakuli Golden Hawks will face off against the Wai'anae Seariders at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 13 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Nanakuli and six for Wai'anae dating back to last season.

Nanakuli is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 21-10 to Campbell on Saturday. Even if the Golden Hawks couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Jhanz Kaawa-Kawai was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Jenna Ku was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Nanakuli was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Wai'anae came up short against Leilehua last Friday and fell 5-1.

Nanakuli's record now sits at 0-4. As for Wai'anae, their record is now an identical 0-4.

Nanakuli suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Wai'anae in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Nanakuli avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
