Basketball Game Preview: Douglas Byrd Eagles vs. South View Tigers

Douglas Byrd hasn't had much luck against South View recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Douglas Byrd Eagles will square off against the South View Tigers at 6:00 p.m.

Douglas Byrd is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 62-34 defeat at the hands of Seventy-First. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 395th, while the Falcons are ranked 97th).

Meanwhile, South View waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 52-42 victory over the Buccaneers.

South View's win came from a few key players Douglas Byrd will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Danauje Brooks, who posted 26 points and seven rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of South View's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakiera Gaillard, who earned seven points along with seven boards and four steals.

South View's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-4. As for Douglas Byrd, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.

Douglas Byrd ended up a good deal behind South View in their previous matchup back in January, losing 67-51. Can Douglas Byrd avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
