Softball Preview: Elwood Panthers vs. Northwestern Tigers

Elwood is 3-0 against Northwestern since May of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Elwood Panthers will be playing at home against the Northwestern Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Elwood will be strutting in after a win while Northwestern will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Elwood finally turned things around against Delta on Thursday. Elwood blew past Delta 11-3. The high-scoring effort was just what Elwood needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Alivia Boston was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Boston was also big at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kelsey Armes, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, four runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Hawks, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Northwestern's offense. They lost 14-0 to Tippecanoe Valley on Monday.
