Softball Game Preview: Canyon Springs Pioneers vs. Pahrump Valley Trojans

Canyon Springs is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Pahrump Valley is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pioneers will welcome the Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Canyon Springs has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Canyon Springs fell victim to Boulder City and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 19-0. The Pioneers have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Pahrump Valley got the win against Valley on Tuesday by a conclusive 18-2. Considering the Trojans have won nine matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dakota Glenn was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Madison Rodriguez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Pahrump Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley only posted an OBP of .273.

Pahrump Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Canyon Springs suffered a grim 28-0 defeat to Pahrump Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
