Basketball Recap: Foster Drops Season-High Score on Alief Hastings

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foster). They took down the Alief Hastings Bears 68-53 on Friday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Bears are ranked 1059th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Among those leading the charge was Jalen Stephanson, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave him a new career-high. Jaron Martin was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points and six assists.

Foster was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alief Hastings only racked up seven assists.

Alief Hastings lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Giovanni Bernal, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 14 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcos Arencibia, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 16 points.

Foster's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-8. As for Alief Hastings, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Strake Jesuit the next time they take the court. Alief Hastings will head out to face Strake Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Foster will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th.
