Basketball Game Preview: Mound City Panthers vs. Osborn Wildcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Mound City Panthers challenge the Osborn Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday... The timing is sure in Mound City's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Osborn has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Mound City's tournament run continued when they took on East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] on Friday. Mound City strolled past East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] with points to spare, taking the game 52-37.

Meanwhile, Osborn had to suffer through a 77-18 loss at the hands of Nodaway Valley co-op [West Nodaway/Nodaway-Holt]. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while Nodaway Valley co-op [West Nodaway/Nodaway-Holt] are ranked 87th).

Mound City has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Osborn, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Mound City came up short against Osborn in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, falling 43-33. Can Mound City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
