Softball Recap: Springfield Takes a Loss

Springfield extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-6 in the process. They came up short against the Otter Valley Otters, falling 19-11. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Otters this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-3 back in April.

As for Otter Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Otters, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

For Otter Valley's part, Adyson Humiston was a standout: she got on base in all six of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Humiston a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Randi Lancour, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield will challenge Leland & Gray at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Otter Valley, they will host Brattleboro at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
