Basketball Recap: Kerens' Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Kerens had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 74-58 win over the Mildred Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Bobcats: when they faced off against the Eagles back in January, they had to take a 63-46 loss.

Mildred's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brennan Moore, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten boards, and Ashton Moore, who posted 23 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Mildred is 14-5 when Brennan posts eight or more rebounds, but 2-3 otherwise. Sam Harper was another key player, putting up two points and four steals.

Kerens' victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points over those games. As for Mildred, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 16-8.

Kerens wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-40 defeat against Mildred on the 13th. As for Mildred, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-38 win against Dawson on the 11th.
