Basketball Game Preview: Schroon Lake Wildcats vs. Fort Ann Cardinals

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Schroon Lake Wildcats face off against the Fort Ann Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Monday... Schroon Lake is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

Schroon Lake is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They snuck past Loudonville Christian with a 75-71 win on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Fort Ann beat Hartford Central 55-48 on Friday.

Fort Ann's win came from a few key players Schroon Lake will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kadyence Cutter, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last nine games he's played. Marcus Stowhas was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 18 boards.

Fort Ann smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Schroon Lake pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Fort Ann, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-7.

Everything came up roses for Schroon Lake against Fort Ann in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 67-36 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Schroon Lake since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
