Baseball Recap: Mckinleyville Finds Home Field Redemption Against Fortuna

There's no place like home for McKinleyville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let the Fortuna Huskies get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Saturday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Joe Tanno, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Fortuna off the board. Tanno has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, McKinleyville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tate Saso, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Kolbey Stolpe was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

McKinleyville pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Fortuna, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

McKinleyville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Huskies: the pair will be back at it again later today.
