Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Sevier to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hudson Flinders, who rushed for 108 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries. That's the most rushing yards Flinders has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Masen Healey, who gained 91 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, South Summit entered their tilt with American Leadership Academy on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 55-20 win over the Eagles. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Wildcats had established a 21-point advantage.
South Summit's win came from a few key players South Sevier will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bryce Pulver, who rushed for 86 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries. He is becoming a predictor of South Summit's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Blake Osguthorpe, who picked up 73 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
South Summit's run defense was locked in: American Leadership Academy could only muster -2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Ammon Marchant for the heroic effort on defense: he. South Summit is 6-1 when they shut down the run game so well.
South Summit's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up seven sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Nash Harline and Trayvn Boger, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece.
South Sevier's record is now 10-1. As for South Summit, their record now sits at 7-4.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. South Sevier has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 432.7 total yards per game. However, it's not like South Summit struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 373.2 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
South Sevier was taken down by South Summit 42-0 in their previous meeting back in September of 2016. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
