Baseball Recap: Rochester Extends Winning Streak to Five

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Rochester ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Springfield Senators. The win was nothing new for the Rockets as they're now sitting on five straight.

Eli Carlson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

In other batting news, Jorey Myren was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Rochester's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Springfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.

Rochester will have a chance to go back-to-back against Springfield: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
